Hinkle to present WWI program

Henryetta City Council members approved a $17,709.89 payment to Crawford & Associates, P.C. for professional services rendered. The payment is for the audit, financials and end-of-the-year.

Financial reports, minutes of the meeting and claims for the month of August were all approved by council members.

Fees for use of the Civic Center were waived for Friends of the Library for a book sale to be held in December, Henryetta Lions Club for their pancake breakfast fundraiser on Oct. 13 and to allow John Hinkle to present a program on the story of World War I.

Henryetta Public Library Librarian JoAnn Hott said that the book sale includes donated items that are not currently used in the library.

City Council members approved payments to all of the following: AEP/PSO in the amount of $22,656.16; Fuelman in the amount of $8,180.70; American Exchange Bank in the amount of $9,100.79 for lease/purchase payments for a ladder truck and GMP fire truck; Emergency Medical Services in the amount of $7,501.55; Henryetta Economic Development Authority (HEDA) in the amount of $9,893.09; Bank of Oklahoma in the amount of $16,559.29 for 2014 Series Utility System and Sales Tax Revenue Note monthly payment and Bank of Oklahoma in the amount of $8,484.22 for 2015 Note Series monthly payment.

A request for $500 in funds for OK Bounce units for Henryetta Cruise Knight was approved.

Steve and Kathy Wilhite from BBR&G Environmental Services LLC discussed goat grazing at Nichols Park. They plan to meet with Ron Casey and Jody Agee to set up parameters and present bids for services.

Stanley Pete Niewinski Jr. was on the agenda to speak to council members, but instead met directly with the city attorney, John Insabella regarding grass and weeds on Ferguson Street.

City Manager Donna White’s Report for August Highlights includes:

Waste Water Plant – Replaced a motor at the lift station located on Hwy. 62 and Dewey Bartlett. Replaced a motor at the lift station located on 15th Street and Ragan. There were 12 lines rodded and jet rodded and 2 manhole risers installed. One lid was replaced and one manhole was repaired. Other maintenance performed included hydro - vac underground power lines at the hospital in a drainage ditch for the street department, finished sewer main located, mowed grass and sprayed weeds at the plant, jet-rodded several main line blockages, replaced bearings and seals on spindle of Toro 72-inch mower, hauled dirt pile off from the alley between Gentry and Division and checked lift stations and sprayed them for weeds.

Street Department – Mowing has been completed for the second time on the newly acquired Hwy. 75 parcel from ODOT. The Creek Project on the east side of the hospital is set to be completed this month. Efforts were commended for the department’s preparations for Labor Day weekend. Work performed: 10 tons toward the patching of potholes; 3 miles of blocks graded; 10 blocks swept; 10 brush piles hauled off; 4 culverts installed; one block of ditches cleaned; 20 days for the brush hogging of blocks; 5 signs installed; 200 storm drains cleaned; 10 culverts cleaned; 50 tons of gravel hauled; 10 loads of shale hauled and spread and 8 pieces of equipment washed and serviced.

Sanitation – Employees were said to have done a good job in preparing for Labor Day festivities.

Nichols Park – Jim Shoulders Memorial Monument Project is complete. Preparations are being made for the second annual vintage motorcycle racing held by the Parkers on the 27th and 30th with a stomp dance planned at the rodeo arena on the 28th at 7 p.m.

McCutcheon Park – Both the Splash Pad at the restroom have been closed for the fall and winter.

Henryetta Fire Department – For August 2018, there were 73 total incidents reported of which 2 incidents were charged for the call. Billing for the month totaled $600. There were 197.5 hours of call back and FLSA for the month. Rescue and EMS calls lead with 30.14 percent, up 16.04 percent. Good intent calls followed with 26.03 percent, up 4.24 percent. Service calls finished with 19.18 percent, down 2.61 percent. Fire calls were down 7.25 percent. The fire department continues to flow and service city fire hydrants throughout the month. Incidents for August included four building fires, one brush or brush and grass mixture fire, two rescue or emergency medical (EMS) call, 19 medical assist or EMS crew calls, 1 extrication of victim from vehicle, 1 gasoline or other flammable liquid spill, 2 gas leak (natural gas or LPG), 1 carbon monoxide incident, 1 electrical wiring/equipment problem, 1 power line down, 1 accident or potential accident, 2 vehicle accidents (general cleanup), 1 service call, 2 person in distress, 8 lock-outs, 2 public service assistance, 1 assist police or other governmental agency, 1 dispatched and cancelled en route, 15 authorized controlled burns, 1 smoke scare/odor of smoke, 2 EMS calls (party transported by non-fire agency), 2 false alarm or false calls, 1 system malfunction and 1 detector activation (no fire - unintentional).

Henryetta Police Department – In the Uniform Crime Report, there included 1 assault felonious, 1 breaking and entering and 12 larcenies. There were 65 people booked and 63 released during the month. Males booked totaled 40 and females booked totaled

25. There were 38 males released and 25 females released. A total of 256 citations and 50 citation warnings were recorded. Four new sex offenders registered during August.

Henryetta Public Library – There were 35 magazines added to the collection; 26 books added; 853 materials checked out; 17 obituary searches; 53 customer assistance/reference questions; 19 times microfilm was used; 475 times public computers were used; 13 library cards; 9 new library cards issued; $24.00 revenue from dues (out of county users); $41.55 revenue from fines; $337.05 revenue from copies and faxes; $48.75 revenue from donations to Memorial Fund.

Cemetery Department – Six graves were opened. 7 stones were delivered. 3 stones were set. 16 hours were spent weed-eating. 48 hours were spent mowing. 20 hours were spent spraying. 2 graves were sold.

Council members attending the meeting included Ronnie Duke, Shannon Scott, Mayor Jennifer Munholland, Christie Jeffcoat and Jana Duggan. Also attending was City Manager Donna White.

There being no new business, the meeting adjourned.

During the Henryetta Municipal Authority meeting that followed the city council meeting, authority board members discussed sanitation services for the City of Henryetta.

According to Mayor Jennifer Munholland, the city has been losing money paying for trash services. Munholland said the current rate is $15.75 and suggested raising rates by an additional $2.50 or $3.00 to “break even.” There was discussion only with no action.

Financial reports, meeting minutes and claims all for the month of August were approved.

Payments reviewed and approved included: Center Point Landfill in the amount of $14,250; OWRB in the amounts of $11,193.26 and $37,962.14 for monthly payments.

Purchases of caustic soda in the amount of $9,500 and ferric chloride in the amount of $8,500, both for the water treatment plant, were approved.

There was no new action and the meeting adjourned.
