HENRYETTA - The Wilson Tiger varsity football team suffered their second loss of the 2018 season this past Friday night with a 58-8, mercy-rule, loss to the visiting Watts Engineers.

The non-district contest on the 45-point mercy rule at the end of the first half.

The Tigers will look to snap their 2-game losing streak this Friday night with a trip to Choctaw and a non-district showdown with the Life Christian Eagles.

Friday's meeting with Life Christian will be the final non-district game for Wilson, as the Tigers will compete in their first district game in school history next Friday at home against Sasakwa.

Kickoff for this Friday's road game at Life Christian is set for 7:30 p.m.

In last Friday's home battle with Watts, the visitors put up 34 points in the opening quarter, then added 24 points in the second stanza for a 58-0 advantage.

The Tigers avoided the shutout loss late in the second quarter when Michael McKinney raced seven yards to paydirt for the only Wilson touchdown. McKinney then found Josiah Sellers in the end zone for the 2-point conversion for the final tally in the Tigers' 58-8 loss.

Offensively, Wilson recorded six first downs and totaled 169 yards of total offense. The Tigers were 7 of 21 passing for 87 yards with one interception, while rushing 14 times for 82 yards. The Wilson offense also lost a fumble during the contest and were only flagged three times for a total of 30 yards.

McKinney was the offensive leader for the Tigers last Friday, rushing 12 times for 68 yards and one touchdown and completing 7 of 21 attempts for 87 yards. The sophomore was also the defensive leader with seven tackles and one interception. Wyatt Danker was next in the tackle department for Wilson with three tackles.
