Across 24 precincts in Okmulgee County, voters decided on their choices for state and federal offices that will be on the ballot for the Nov. 6 General Election. In addition, Morris voters approved two city propositions and the school bond proposition on the ballot. According to the Okmulgee County Election Board, unofficial results for the Aug. 28 Election are as follows: Governor (Republican) – Kevin Stitt received a total of 1,388 votes or 70.71% versus Mick Cornett who received 575 votes for 29.29%.
Governor (Libertarian) – Chris Powell received a total of four votes for 100% compared to Rex Lawhorn who didn’t receive any votes.
Lieutenant Governor (Republican) – Matt Pinnell was the popular vote with 1,271 or 65.99% compared to Dana Murphy who received 655 votes for 34.01%.
StateAuditor & Inspector (Republican) – Charlie Prater received 1,101 votes for 58.19% compared to Cindy Byrd who received 791 votes for 41.81%.
Attorney General (Republican) – Gentner Drummond received 1,153 total votes for 59.46% compared to Mike Hunter who received 786 votes for 40.54%.
Superintendent of Public Instruction (Republican) – Joy Hofmeister received 1,034 votes for 53.58% compared to Linda Murphy who received 896 votes for 46.42%.
Commissioner of Labor (Republican) – Leslie Osborn was the popular vote with 1,027 votes for 54.17% compared to Cathy Costello who received 869 votes for 45.83%.
Corporation Commissioner (Republican) – Brian Bingman received 1,096 votes for 57.17% compared to Bob Anthony who received 821 votes for 42.83%.
Corporation Commissioner (Democrat) – Ashley Nicole McCray received 958 votes for 55.18% compared to Blake Cummings who received 778 votes for 44.82%.
U.S. Representative Dist. 2 (Democrat) – Jason Nichols received 1,065 votes for 61.24% compared to Clay Padgett who received 674 votes for 38.76%.
City of Morris Proposition #1 (Shall the Clerk, Treasurer, Clerk/Treasurer be appointed by the Mayor with approval of the Council?) – A total of 131 voters or 52.82% approved the proposition while 117 (47.18%) were opposed.
City of Morris Proposition #2 (Shall the current number of city council member seats be reduced from eight to four which would include one council member per ward, effective in the general election year of 2021 and set terms of current council members to set to expire in 2019 to extend to 2021?) – A total of 158 voters (63.97%) approved of the proposition while 89 voters (36.03%) were opposed.
Morris Public Schools Independent School District Proposition ($4,685,000 Bond Proposition) – A total of 526 voters (69.12%) approved the proposition while 235 voters (30.88%) were opposed.
