HOLDENVILLE - The Henryetta cross country program began their 2018 season last Saturday, competing at the Holdenville Invitational Cross County Meet. The top runner for the Lady Knight varsity squad

HOLDENVILLE - The Henryetta cross country program began their 2018 season last Saturday, competing at the Holdenville Invitational Cross County Meet. The top runner for the Lady Knight varsity squad was Bayliegh Nye with a 15th-place finish in the girls 1-mile run. Nye crossed the finish line in a time of 7 minutes, 22 seconds - 1 minute, 7 seconds behind first-place finisher, Abby Elcan of Providence, Arkansas. The other finishers for the Henryetta girls varsity team were Cheyanne Thomas in 42nd with a time of 8:25, Emily Stockholm in 44th with a time of 8:34, and Kaylee Watson in 46th with a time of 8:49. In the varsity boys race, Keaton Lollis paced the Knights with a 10th-place finish. Lollis covered the 2-mile course in a time of 12 minutes, 54 seconds - 1 minute, 22 seconds behind the top runner on the boys side, Richard Bolt of Seminole. Teammate Austin Green was five spots behind Lollis in 15th with a time of 13:05. Garrett Witt was the final Knight runner in the boys 2-mile run, finishing 54th with a time of 15:59. In the junior high girls division, Joslin Stidman earned a Top 5 finish for Henryetta. Stidman covered the 1-mile race in 7 minutes, 31 seconds - good enough for fifth place. Stidman's finishing time was just 14 seconds behind the top finisher, Gloria Deathridge of Seminole. Raychel Morrison finished 12th for the HMS girls squad, finishing in a time of 8 minutes, 9 seconds. In the junior high boys division, Ethan Goodner paced the Knights with a 9th-place finish, covering the 1-mile race in a time of 6 minutes, 42 seconds. Goodner was 38 seconds behind the top finisher, J. Garcia of Wewoka. Teammate Jordan Short was 12th in the junior high boys division with a time of 6:54. Wyatt Coy was next for the Knight junior high runners in 21st place with a time of 7:17. Zack Mullen rounded out the HMS boys competitors at the season opener in 30th place with a time of 7:45. Next up for the Henryetta cross country teams will be the Seminole Invitational this Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. ---
