The Dewar Lady Dragons earned a pair of double-digit wins earlier this week. The Lady Dragons began the week on Monday, traveling to Canadian for a showdown with the host Canadian Lady Cougars. After a sluggish start, the Dewar softball squad erupted for 13 runs in the third and fourth innings to run away with a 15-1 victory. On Tuesday, the Dewar ladies improved to 10-5 on the year, routing the visiting Weleetka Lady Outlaws 13-0 in three innings. The Lady Dragons closed out their week on Thursday with a trip to Council Hill for a meeting with the Midway Lady Chargers. The Dewar squad will start next week's action on Monday at home against Strother, then will travel to Wetumka on Tuesday to battle Wetumka and Crowder in a 3-team showdown. The final scheduled game next week will be next Thursday at 1 p.m. at home against Preston. In Monday's road game at Canadian, both teams tallied a run in their half of the first. Dewar took over the lead for good at 2-1 with a run in the top of the second. The Lady Dragons added three runs in the third for a 5-1 advantage, then put the game away in the top of the fourth, erupting for 10 runs in the frame to walk away with the 15-1, run-rule, win. Skyler Randall worked all four innings in the circle for Dewar to earn the pitching win. The sophomore southpaw allowed one run on one hit with nine strikeouts, three walks, one hit batter in the complete-game victory.
