The Oklahoma Football Coaches Association (OFBCA) was determined to find a way to host an All-State game for the high school seniors who worked hard to make the roster this year. After the Oklahoma Coaches Association canceled the All-State games for 2020, the OFBCA teamed up with Skordle and Oklahoma Baptist University to create a plan of action for their own All- State game.
Okmulgee High School’s fast-pitch softball team has begun summer practices after given the green light on July 15. The Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs will be depending on experienced returners, such as Mercedes Cosby and Morgan Goddard. Shane Bevan, Okmulgee’s head softball coach, is whipping players into shape in preparation for their first game set for Monday, Aug. 10 in Henryetta.
Dewar football players Caden Lee and Josh Maldonado added one more win to their high school career, leading the Green team to a 42-22 victory at the Oklahoma Eight-Man All-Star game in Miami. Lee and Maldonado joined 80 other players from around Oklahoma for a week-long camp that led up to a final showdown on Saturday.
The Dewar Dragons led an incredible season in 2019, making it all the way to the quarter-finals against Shattuck. They ended the season with a 12-1 record largely in part due to the strong, experienced lineup they had, which included seniors Caden Lee and Josh Maldonado. Morris Eagle Joe McBride has committed to play college ball at North Lake College this coming fall as a Blazer. McBride was a key player in the 2020 season for the Eagles, leading them to a 13-12 overall record and also took them to the second round of the OSSAA Class 3A Regional tournament. He was a player that could drop 2’s whenever he needed it. Reading the lane, to see where he could post up and sink shots.
