Muscogee (Creek) Nation Principal Chief David W. Hill reponded to Tuesday’s federal court ruling on tribal gaming compacts.
Over the span of the last two months, various organizations in the area have partnered with Farmers to Families to bring Go Fresh fruit/vegetable and dairy boxes to the area. Morris has had a couple. Preston First Baptist Church has done several and Okmulgee Main Street recently held a couple of giveaways as well with another planned for today, July 31. These have been a huge blessing to the community. But, if you have picked up more than two of these boxes, you may be starting to accumulate some items.
Okmulgee High School’s football team has been hearing a new pair of voices during their summer workouts, pushing them to their edge and helping build a future Alpha Dog squad. Jesse Pannell, a former Beggs Demon and recent graduate from Pitt State University, along with Bill Williams, a veteran in the football game, have been working with Head Coach Brent Scott this summer.
The Okmulgee Junior Football League hosted its annual Skills Camp for the upcoming 2020 NEOYFA season at Harmon Stadium July 20-24. Children from 1st through 6th grade were coached through drills pertinent to their position throughout the four-day camp. Players have also made their way through the OJFA Strength and Conditioning camp this week in preparation for its first practice, set for Aug. 3 at Harmon Stadium. NEOYFA encompasses Bristow, Cleveland, Cushing, Dewey, Mannford, Oologah, Perkins, Perry, Sperry and Okmulgee in its league.
