Little league football season is just around the corner with teams set to start official practice on Monday, Aug. 3. Henryetta, Beggs and Morris little leagues are gearing up for another season with the CFL, which also includes NOAH, Victory Christian, Kiefer, Kellyville, Rejoice Christian and the Tulsa R-Hawks.
For almost a decade, the city’s fields have only seen little league teams play during the summer months. Inspired to bring their community together Steve Nunley, Tex Hackney, Jaylen Mayfield and Jerry Moore landed on one idea - an adult softball league. Now, teams can be seen batting, fielding and playing with one another every Thursday and Friday at Hawthorne Park.
Henryetta High School’s fast-pitch squad is hard at work preparing for the 2020 season. The Lady Knights have already gotten in reps out on the field since they were given the green light to practice on July 15. Head coach Ryan Swallow has plenty of returning starters and talented freshman this year to make the Lady Knights a threat and make a hard run at the playoffs. The Lady Knights also have a host of freshman coming up the ranks to play.
