Funeral services for WJ Whaley, 84, resident of Dewar, were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 22, at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel where Rev. Chester Cantrell officiated. Interment followed at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home. Visitation was at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Whaley was born Sept. 6, 1934, in Bray to Bill and Willie Ann (Broadstreet) Whaley. He died Thursday, April 18, in Dewar. He married Nancy Barnett on Sept. 8, 1969, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Survivors include his daughters, Brenda Kuykendall and husband Mike of Oklahoma City and Revonda Luttrell of Burleson, Texas; son, Ricky Whaley and wife Nataliya of Cleburne, Texas; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a host of great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Myers and husband Jesse, Evelyn Barnett, and Velma Jackson; brother, Ray Whaley and wife Faye; and daughter-in-law, Linda Pierce of Killeen, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; stepson, Karl Pierce; son-in-law, Joe Luttrelle; and two sisters.
