Lewis Bible, Jr.

Lewis Bible, Jr., 65, a lifetime resident of Dewar, passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, in Oklahoma City. Lewis was born March 27, 1953, to Lewis Bible, Sr. and Helen Freda (Jones) Bible.

Lewis was a graduate of Dewar High School and a Dewar Dragon through and through. He loved all types of sports and delighted in supporting his grandsons in any sport they played and was faithful to every game. More than sports, he loved his family, adoring his wife, two girls, Jenny and Mandy, and grandsons, Braxton, Jake and Garrett. More than everything, Lewis loved his Lord and served him to the best of his ability.

Lewis was very proud of his Native heritage, Muscogee (Creek), and loved traditions and did his best to uphold them and honor them. He worked for Smithco Engineering as a welder for 30 years. Lewis loved spending time playing golf with his best friend, Larry Hester, who he loved like a brother.

Lewis was preceded in death by his loving parents, Lewis and Helen Bible; two brothers, Thomas Lee (Sonny) Sullivan and Barney Sullivan; and his beloved mother-in-law, Phyllis Shoun Qualls.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Brenda of the home; two daughters, Jenny Hunnicutt and husband Steve of Dewar and Mandy Bible Loyd and Brandi Casey of Dewar; grandchildren, Braxton Loyd of Dewar, Jake Hunnicutt of Dewar, Garrett Loyd of Dewar, Stephen Kurt Hunnicutt of Dewar, Stormi Dawn Bible of Dewar, and Ghessica Lewis; great grandchildren, Jayden Lewis, Brooklyn Baldwin, and Cali Baldwin; two brothers, Jerry Bible of Okmulgee and Dennis Bible and wife Alexia of Morris; four sisters, Joanna Thomas of Okmulgee, Linda Buckley of Glenpool, Jean Hawkins and husband Butch of Wagoner, and Bonita Wright of Okmulgee; a niece who he loved like a sister, Christy Johnson and husband Darin of Tiger Mountain, his father-in-law, Matt Qualls of Dewar; an aunt, Kathryn Spurlock of Dear; an uncle, Wilson Jones of California; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other numerous relatives.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Dewar First Baptist Church where Rev. Jack Vance and Rev. Ryan Wells officiated. Interment followed in Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.

Pallbearers were Braxton Loyd, Jake Hunnicutt, Garrett Loyd, Larry Hester, Tommy Dickey, and Arvin McGowin. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Goodner, John “Saigon” Harlen, Ron Coe, Sr., John Fultz, Butch Ritter, and Jim Delso.
