Four positions filled at Henryetta

Henryetta Board of Education accepted the resignation of three staff members and announced a fourth resignation at their July 9 regular meeting.

Board members approved the resignations of Winter Whitlock as an elementary teacher’s aide, Nathaniel Thompson as a Social Studies teacher and Jenny Hunnicut as a first grade teacher. The resignation letter from Denae Green as second grade teacher was read in new business.

Staff members hired for the 2018-2019 school year included Shannon Vasser for a six-hour cafeteria position; Dutch Vendenborn as a half-day Athletic Director and Felicia Greenhaw and Kendall Hodge as paraprofessionals.

Minutes of the May 14 regular board meeting were approved and minutes of the June 25 special board meeting were tabled.

Other agenda items approved by board members included:
• Financial reports for 2017-2018;
• Miller Office Equipment for 2018-2019;
• Agreement of Memorandum of Understanding with the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology and Henryetta Public Schools for the purpose of an OK Education Lottery Trust for the 2018-2019 school year;
• Agreement with the Center for Education Law for 2018-2019 school year;
• Renewal Agreement for Special Services with United Community Action Program for the 2018-2019 school year;
• Renewal with eBackpack, LLC for the 2018-2019 school year;
• Addition of a high school period of TSA (Technology Students of America) to continue the advancement of the STEM program and competition for Henryetta students for the 2018-2019 school year;
• Renewal/Upgrade Library Automation Software for the 2018-2019 school year.

After a lengthy discussion and review of all milk bids, board members accepted a bid from Hiland Dairy Foods.

In the Principal’s Report, it was announced that a Engage Oklahoma Workshop was attended at Ada and high school seniors can now take advantage of an extra 18 hours of college credits and have the fee waived.

Before adjourning, Superintendent Dwayne Noble announced that he will be attending TA training for three days this week with Jayme Matlock and Kelly Furer.
