Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 539 Commander Bill Goodner, Audie Cole, Senior Vice Post Commander Jewett Nelson and VFW member Donnie McKay will start the Buddy Poppie Fund Drive Tuesday, May 15 and will collect donations through Thursday, May 24.

When taking and collecting donations, all of them will have their VFW identification on them. If someone claims to be from the VFW and you are uncertain if they are or not, feel free to ask for their VFW identification.

In addition to traveling around Henryetta collecting donations, VFW Post 539 will have a table set up on Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Walmart for the Buddy Poppie Program.

A donation jar and Buddy Poppies are also available at the Free-Lance office at 302 W. Main in Henryetta.

Any donations you can give the VFW would be greatly appreciated.

If you need more information or would like to donate, please contact Goodner at 918-510-1727.

Henryetta Mayor Jennifer Clason and City Manager Donna White recently approved a Proclamation declaring the month of May as National Campaign of Buddy Poppies by the VFW Post 539. The signing was in conjunction with the observance of Memorial Day.
