State Runner-up

The Henryetta Lady Knight golf team captured the state runner-up trophy at last week’s Class 2A state golf championships in Guthrie. The Lady Knights finished the 2-day event at Cimarron National Golf Club at Aqua Canyon with a team total of 757. GUTHRIE - The Henryetta Lady Knight varsity golf team took home the state runner-up trophy last Thursday evening at the Class 2A state golf championships at Cimarron National Golf Club at Aqua Canyon.

The Lady Knights began last Thursday's final round in fourth with a team total of 380 - 18 strokes off the leader Tishomingo in the team standings.

In last Thursday's final round, the HHS link squad shaved three strokes off their first-round score, finishing their final 18 holes of action with a 377, placing the Lady Knights in second place in the team standings with a team total of 757 at the conclusion of the 2-day event.

Tishomingo took home the team championship with a 2-day total of 728, firing rounds of 362 and 366, respectively.

Washington and Pawnee, who sat ahead of the Lady Knights after last Wednesday's first round of action, carded final-round totals of 400 and 408, respectively, to finish third and fourth in the team standings last Thursday.

Frederick rounded out the Top 5 teams with a 2-day total of 799, matching Washington's 400 in last Thursday's final round.

Mooreland was sixth with a team total of 817, followed by Oklahoma Christian School and Olive tied for seventh at 824, Turner in ninth at 830, and Silo in 10th at 845.

Cordell (859) and Laverne (905) rounded out the 12-team tournament field in 11th and 12 place, respectively.

Individually, senior Abbi Green closed out her high school golf career tied for third with Sara Armstrong of Crossings Christian, finishing the 36-hole event with a 2-day total of 165. Green carded an 11-over 83 in last Wednesday's opening round, then shaved one stroke off that total last Thursday, finishing the final 18 holes with a 10-over 83 for a 36-hole total of 165.

Cashion's Sydney Manning took home the individual state championship with a 2-day total of 157. Megan Brown of Cordell was second in the individual medalist standings with a 36-hole total of 159.

Morgan Landes of Dale, who was second behind Manning after last Wednesday's opening round, finished fifth with a 36-hole total of 166.

Emily Potter finished tied for 16th overall with OCS' Sarah Harrison with a 2-day total of 183 with rounds of 91 and 92, respectively.

Bridget Williams had the biggest turnaround individually for the Lady Knights last Thursday. Williams carded a 108 in last Wednesday's opening round, then shaved an impressive 15 strokes off her first-round total last Thursday, firing a final-round score of 93 to finish 37th overall with a 2-day total of 201.

Emily Stockholm rounded out the Henryetta individual scores with a 2-day total of 208, finishing in a 4-way tie for 44th overall with Makenzie Hoagland of Cordell, Hannah Sample of Mooreland, and Kenley Person of Laverne.
