Lady Knights sit 4th at state golf tournament

The Henryetta Lady Knight golf team finished Wednesday’s opening round of the Class 2A state golf championships with a team score of 380, which was good enough for fourth overall in the team standings. GUTHRIE - The Henryetta Lady Knight golf team sits in fourth place after the first 18 holes at the Class 2A state golf championships at Cimarron National Golf Club at Aqua Canyon.

The Lady Knights finished the opening day with a team total of 380, which is 18 strokes off the lead in the team standings.

Tishomingo finished with an opening-round score of 362 to lead the 12-team field after Wednesday's action.

Pawnee was second in the team standings at 373, followed by Washington in third at 379.

Olive was fifth after the first round with a team total of 396. Frederick was sixth in the team standings after Wednesday's action at 399, followed by Mooreland in seventh at 408.

The remaining teams in the 12-team tournament field included Turner in eighth at 410, Oklahoma Christian School in ninth at 414, Cordell and Silo tied for 10th at 427, and Laverne in 12th at 448.

Henryetta's top individual scorer after Wednesday's first round was senior Abbi Green. Green finished the first round at the Par-72 golf course with an 11-over 83. Green's first-round score was good enough for sixth overall on the top individual list after the first 18 holes.

Cashion's Sydney Manning led the 72-player field after one round of action with an 8-over 80. Dale's Morgan Landes and Crossings Christian's Sara Armstrong were tied for second overall with a first-round score of 81. Bailee Brown of Tishomingo and Megan Brown of Cordell finished the first round tied for fourth with an 18-hole score of 82.

Christian Heritage's Sarah Sherrad was seventh overall individually with an 84, followed by Fletcher's Delana Holden and Pawnee's Nikki Thompson in a tie for eighth with opening-round scores of 85.

Kristen Prett of Washington and Sarah Harrison of Oklahoma Christian rounded out the Top 10 individual list after Wednesday's opening round with scores of 87, which tied for 10th overall.

Emily Potter was next on the Henryetta individual scoring list after the first round on Wednesday with an 18-hole score of 91, which was good enough for a tie for 14th with Rylie Gunter of Oklahoma Christian and Makenzie Rogers of Silo.

Emily Stockholm finished tied for 29th overall with Maddie Eilers of Mooreland, Kate Davis of Oklahoma Bible, Makayle Williams of Olive, and McKenzie Nunley of Wewoka with a first-round score of 98.

Bridget Williams rounded out the Henryetta individual scorers at the Class 2A state golf championships on Wednesday with an 18-hole total of 108. Williams' first-round score was good enough for a tie for 54th overall with Taylor Stacy of Frederick and Cailie Golden of Oklahoma Christian.

The final 18 holes of the 2-day event was scheduled to take place on Thursday morning.
