Lady Knights to begin slowpitch season today

HENRYETTA - The Henryetta Lady Knight slowpitch softball team is scheduled to begin their 2018 campaign this afternoon (Friday) with a 3-team battle at home against Haskell and Heavener.

Today's 3-team showdown will begin with the Lady Knights taking on Haskell at 4:30 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. with Haskell squaring off against Heavener. The final contest in the 3-team battle will feature the host Lady Knights going up against Heavener in a 7:30 p.m. meeting.

Following Friday's season opener, the Henryetta softball squad will travel to Weleetka Monday afternoon for a 3-team battle with Earlsboro and the host Weleetka Lady Outlaws.

The following day (March 6), the Lady Knights will play host to county rival, the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs. Tuesday's county battle with Okmulgee is set to get started at 5 p.m.

The Henryetta squads will close out next week's busy schedule with a trip to Morris next Thursday for a 3-team battle with Haskell and the host Morris Lady Eagles and a home game against Canadian. The 3-team showdown next Thursday at Morris is scheduled to get started at 4:30 p.m., while next Friday's home game against Canadian will get started at 5 p.m.

Other home games for the Lady Knights in March will be March 12 against Bristow, March 13 against Eufaula and Beggs, and March 27 against Okemah and Kellyville.

Besides traveling to Weleetka on Monday and Morris next Thursday, the other road games for the Henryetta squad in March will be March 22 at Oktaha and March 26 at Webbers Falls.

The Lady Knights will also compete in two tournaments in March. The first tournament will be the Beggs Tournament March 15 and 16. The second tournament in March for the HHS squad will be the Weleetka Tournament March 29-31.

The Lady Knights will kick off April's schedule with back-to-back home games against Preston (April 2) and Kiefer (April 3), then will travel to Okmulgee April 9 and Canadian April 10.

The final two scheduled dates for the Henryetta squad in the regular season will be at Bristow April 16 against Bristow and Liberty and a home meeting with Webbers Falls April 17.

The slowpitch softball playoffs will begin April 19-20 with district tournament play, followed by the regional tournament April 26 and 27.

The Class 5A state slowpitch softball tournament will take place May 1 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.

If the Lady Knights are to battle for a state championship in 2018, they will need to have success throughout the regular season, which begins today (Friday) at 4:30 p.m. at home against the Haskell Lady Haymakers.
