The Henryetta Golden Knights fell to 1-6 on the year after dropping a 34-18 decision to the Holdenville Wolverines last Friday at historic Cameron Field.

The 16-point defeat came in the second 2A-5 district game for the Knights in 2017.

The loss evens the Knights' district record at 1-1.

The Henryetta squad will look to get back on the winning track this Friday with a trip to Okemah and a showdown with the Okemah Panthers. Friday's district contest against Okemah will get underway at 7 p.m. at the Pecan Bowl in Okemah.

In last Friday's district battle with Holdenville, the Knights were held to 265 yards of total offense on 67 plays. The Henryetta squad rushed 26 times for 91 yards and were 15 of 41 passing for 174 yards and three scores.

The top rusher against Holdenville was Seth Munoz with four carries for 40 yards. Avery Moore, who had been a nightmare for the Holdenville defense the past two meetings, was held to 28 yards rushing on five carries.

Jarett Day was the top passer for the Knights last Friday. The senior signal caller completed 14 of 39 passes for 171 yards and 2 TDs. Jakob White had the other completion - a 3-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter.

The top receiver for Henryetta against Holdenville was Munoz, who caught six passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. Jeremiah Boyles hauled in four passes for 58 yards and one score for the Knights.

Jarred Miner accounted for all five scores for Holdenville - all rushing. The Wolverine quarterback rushed 32 times for 192 yards against the Knight defense. The Wolverines ran 47 plays on offense against Henryetta with 45 coming on the ground for a total of 287 yards.

The first quarter of last Friday's district battle in Henryetta was a defensive battle, as neither team was able to find the end zone in the first 12 minutes of action.

With 7:48 left before halftime, Miner broke up the scoreless tie with a 10-yard TD run. Joshua Nalley ran in the conversion attempt to give the Wolverines the 8-0 advantage.

Twenty-three seconds before the intermission, Holdenville doubled its lead to 16-0 on a 6-yard run and successful conversion run by Miner.

At the 10:40 mark of the third quarter, Miner found the end zone for the third time in the contest, calling his own number on a 1-yard run. The run attempt on the conversion was no good, making it a 22-0 deficit for the Knights at the end of three quarters of action.

Miner's 26-yard TD run at 9:20 of the fourth increased Holdenville's lead to 28-0.

The combination of Day and Kobe Johnson ended the Wolverines' bid for a shutout win when Day connected with Johnson on a 9-yard TD pass with 8:11 left in regulation. The try for two was unsuccessful for Henryetta, cutting the deficit to 28-6.

Fifty-six seconds later, the Knights cut the deficit to 28-12 on a 26-yard TD pass from Day to Boyles. The run attempt on the conversion try was no good, leaving the Holdenville margin at 16 points with 7:15 left in the fourth.

The Henryetta comeback attempt was thwarted at the 1:48 mark of the fourth quarter when Miner crossed the goal line on a 4-yard run to extend the Holdenville lead to 34-12.

White capped off the Henryetta scoring with a 3-yard pass to Munoz with 15 seconds left, making the final tally 34-18.
