FFA students attend board meeting

Henryetta FFA students showed off their prize-winning projects to board of education members on Monday evening. 

Two teams of FFA students competed in a cattle grading contest at the Tulsa State Fair earlier this month. 

The junior team, consisting of Neecie Gillinn, Joey Watson, Ryan Clark and Jaylee Treagesser, placed third in the state. 

The senior team, consisting of Nathan Welch, Skyla Notley and Alex Graffman, placed third overall. 

In individuals, Gillinn placed sixth overall, Watson placed 46 and Graffman placed 77, out of 754 Oklahoma students. 

Henryetta school board members congratulated the students on their success. 

Other items discussed and approved at the monthly school board meeting include the following:
1. Stacy Bullard with OEA presented Fight for Funding Initiative.
2. Liz Bealko addressed board members on upcoming drama performances for the 2017-2018 school year.
3. Approved Indian Education Policies and procedures for the 2016-2017 school year.
4. The board discussed possible action on encumbrances and financial reports for the 2016-2017 school year.
5. Mr. Dwayne Noble and Nancy McKay discussed the fiscal year 2017-2018 general operating budget.
6. Approved motion to adopt hours and days schedule for the 2017-2018 school year.
7. Approved mentor teachers for the elementary school 2017-2018 school year. Mentor approved for Olivia Winter is Ginny Holder and mentor approved for Loren Mitchell is Beverly Kiehl.
8. Board voted to approve fundraisers for the 2017-2018 school year. 
9. Board voted to approve ACE Remediation Plan for the 2017-2018 school year. 
10. Board voted to approve the emergency policy and procedures plan. 
11. Board voted to approve partnership with OSUIT's adult basic education program-GED classes for the 2018-2018 school year. 
12. Board voted to approve upgrade with ShoreTel Phone System for the 2017-2018 school year.
13. Board voted to approve a resolution to call for an annual school election on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
14. Board voted to approve the renewal contract with weaver drug testing lab for the 2017-2018 school year.
15. Board voted to approve the extracurricular activities student alcohol and drug testing policy for the 2017-2018 school year.
16. Board voted to approve the H.E.S.A. Negotiations Agreement for 2017-2018 school year.
