The Dewar Lady Dragons showcased both offensive firepower and defensive consistency over a busy stretch of games, highlighted by two dominant victories and a competitive setback against a tough Davenport squad.
Dewar opened the run with an explosive performance Friday, overwhelming Liberty in a 16-1 rout fueled by a massive second inning and a standout day at the plate from Emmy Hall.
Hall was nearly unstoppable, going a perfect 3-for3 with an inside-the-park home run, a double and a single. She also drove in multiple runs, helping pace a Lady Dragons offense that racked up 17 hits on the day.
The game turned decisively in the second inning when Dewar erupted for 10 runs. Jaycie Berry and Hall each blasted inside-the-park home runs, while Miracle Story delivered a two-run double. Peyton Farrow added an RBI triple, and contributions continued up and down the lineup as the Lady Dragons blew the game open early.
Dewar had already built momentum in the first inning, plating six runs behind extra-base hits from Berry, Hall, Story and Farrow, along with a Liberty error.
In the circle, Cali Thomason earned the win, allowing just one run on three hits over three innings while striking out two. The Lady Dragons backed their pitcher with flawless defense, committing no errors in the contest.
Miracle Story led the team with five RBIs, while Berry, Korbyn Anderson, Farrow and Shyan Snelson each recorded multiple hits in the dominant effort.
Later Friday, Dewar faced a stiffer challenge against Davenport, falling 4-1 despite a solid pitching performance from Thomason.
Davenport capitalized on early opportunities, scoring in the second inning and adding two more runs in the third behind RBI singles from Autumn Gaylord and Briley Hauk.
Thomason worked six innings in the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on 10 hits while striking out two. Dewar managed just four hits offensively, with Jadyn Ross, Thomason, Anderson and Snelson each collecting one.
The Lady Dragons bounced back in emphatic fashion Saturday at the Claude Cox Omniplex, shutting out Crowder 10-0 in a run-rule victory.
Dewar broke the game open in the second inning when Berry delivered a two-run double and Hall added an RBI groundout. Farrow later sparked another surge in the fifth with a solo inside-the-park home run, while the Lady Dragons capitalized on a Crowder error to tack on additional runs.
Thomason once again led the way in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout over five innings, scattering six hits without issuing a walk.
At the plate, Thomason, Berry and Farrow each recorded two hits, while Berry drove in two runs. Dewar also showed patience offensively, drawing 10 walks, with Ross and Brooklyn Harvell leading the way with two each.
