The Henryetta Knights turned in a strong showing over the weekend, picking up a pair of victories before closing out the stretch with a hard-fought loss, showcasing both offensive firepower and aggressive base running across three contests.
Henryetta opened the run with an impressive 13-4 win over the Weleetka Outlaws on Thursday, fueled by a standout performance from EJ Glover. Glover drove in four runs on two hits, delivering in key moments with a two-run single in the sixth inning and a run-scoring double in the fifth.
The Knights wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, plating two runs in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Will Perez and an RBI groundout from Glover. They continued to build momentum in the third inning, capitalizing on a Weleetka error and a steal of home by Hunter Bowdler to extend the lead.
A decisive sixth inning saw Henryetta explode for five runs on three hits. Bowdler drove in a run with a single, Glover added two more RBIs with another hit and Mavrix Randleman drew a bases-loaded walk. A wild pitch capped the scoring surge.
On the mound, Blake Silkwood earned the win, allowing six hits and four runs (two earned) over six innings while striking out six. Offensively, the Knights racked up 10 hits, with Bowdler and Blaze Hill each collecting three. Haiden Kaler added two hits, while the team showed patience at the plate with eight walks. Henryetta also wreaked havoc on the basepaths, stealing five bases and turning a double play defensively.
Henryetta carried that momentum into Friday’s matchup against the Moss Pirates, securing an 8-4 victory behind another balanced effort.
The Knights struck early again, scoring three runs in the first inning. Hunter Bowdler delivered a two-run double, while a fielder’s choice off the bat of Will Perez brought in another run.
EJ Glover picked up the win on the mound, working four and one-third innings while allowing three hits and three runs (two earned) and striking out five. Boston Morris added strong relief work, tossing one and twothirds scoreless innings, while Mavrix Randleman earned the save.
At the plate, Glover stayed hot, going a perfect 3-for-3 to lead the Knights. Bowdler added two RBIs, while Henryetta’s aggressive approach on the bases continued to pay dividends, as the team swiped 10 bases. Perez, Morris and Kaler each recorded multiple steals, keeping constant pressure on Moss.
The Knights wrapped up the weekend with a 9-4 loss to the Stuart Hornets on Saturday, despite out-hitting their opponent nine to seven.
Stuart struck first with a tworun home run by Zackary Luker in the opening inning. Henryetta battled back throughout the contest, tying the game twice. Blake Silkwood delivered a key RBI single in the fifth to even the score at 3-3, and the Knights tied it again at 4-4 in the sixth on a balk.
However, the Hornets broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs to pull away. Luker delivered the biggest blow of the inning with a two-run single.
Silkwood led Henryetta offensively with three hits, while Glover and Bowdler each drove in a run. The Knights also continued their aggressive base running, stealing four bases in the contest. Bowdler took the loss on the mound, striking out eight over five and one-third innings.
Over the three-game stretch, Henryetta showcased a potent offense, collecting 28 hits while consistently pressuring opponents with their speed on the bases. The Knights’ ability to generate runs early and capitalize on scoring opportunities proved key in their two victories.
Henryetta was scheduled to return home Monday to host Okmulgee as they continue their season.
