Okmulgee runners shine at Glenpool
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES,

The Okmulgee Bulldogs boys track team posted a solid performance Friday at the Glenpool Invitational, competing against a deep field of schools from across Oklahoma. The team showcased depth across relays, sprints, middle-distance and field events, highlighted by multiple standout performances.

The relay squads were competitive throughout the day. The 4×100 relay team of Youngblood, Yahola, Hutchinson and Thompson finished in 46.19 seconds, demonstrating strong coordination and speed. In the 4×200 relay, the same quartet crossed the line in 1:35.82, giving the Bulldogs a solid showing in sprint relays. The 4×400 relay team – Thomas, Stafford, Berryhill and Hollands – posted a 4:24.77 finish, rounding out the team’s relay contributions.

Individual sprints were marked by consistent performances. Brandon Thompson led the 100 meters with an 11.95-second run, followed closely by Chase Spain at 12.43 seconds. In the 200 meters, Thompson again led Okmulgee with a 24.35-second finish, with Spain clocking 25.42 and Kameron Smith finishing in 26.34. Keithen Stafford contributed in the 400 meters with a strong 56.76-second effort.

Middle-distance events saw contributions from Keaton Freeman in the 1600 meters, finishing in 5:57.97. While the 800 meters and 3200 meters times were not recorded for Okmulgee, the team’s participation added depth to the meet.

Hurdlers Kaleb Berryhill and Lucas Swallow represented Okmulgee in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 22.15 and 23.97 seconds, respectively. These performances helped the Bulldogs maintain visibility in the hurdle events.

Okmulgee’s field events were highlighted by strong placements and distances. Keonte Youngblood took third place overall in the long jump with an impressive 19 feet, 9 inches, while Keithen Stafford added a jump of 17 feet, 4 inches. In the shot put, Preston Powell led the team with a throw of 35 feet, 6 inches, followed by Brighdon McFalls at 32 feet, 7 inches. The discus saw Brighdon Mc-Falls throw 91 feet, 5 inches, with Powell reaching 75 feet, 5 inches and Lucas Swallow contributing a 59-foot, 6-inch effort.

Overall, Okmulgee’s boys team demonstrated balance across track and field disciplines, with relays, sprints and field events all contributing to the team’s competitive presence at the Glenpool Invitational.

The Bulldogs will look to continue building on this experience as the season progresses and prepare for upcoming meets that test both speed and endurance.
