The 2025-26 postseason run for the Wilson Tigers may have come to an end short of a return trip to State, but not before the Tigers showcased the heart, teamwork and determination that defined their season.

Wilson wrapped up its campaign with two impressive victories before falling in a hardfought contest to Stuart. The Tigers’ final stretch demonstrated just how much this squad grew throughout the year – led by dominant performances from Ke’shon Shelburn and a balanced offensive attack that made Wilson one of the more dangerous teams in the area down the stretch.

Most Okmulgee County basketball teams have now closed the book on their seasons, with the exception of the Preston Pirates, who will face Kansas on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Knight Center in Henryetta, hoping to punch their ticket back to the State Tournament.

— Wilson dominates Strother behind Shelburn double-double Wilson opened the pivotal stretch with a commanding 58– 47 victory over Strother.

Ke’shon Shelburn led the way with 17 points and 12 rebounds, powering the Tigers to a wire-to-wire win. Wilson never trailed in the contest and built its largest lead of 22 points at 41-19.

The Tigers exploded out of the gate, outscoring Strother 23-9 in the first quarter while dishing out four assists in the opening frame. Leading 14-7, Wilson put together a decisive 14-2 run to seize control. By halftime, the Tigers held a commanding 35-17 advantage.

Strother made a late push, trimming the deficit with a 12-point run in the second half, but Wilson’s strong first-half execution proved too much to overcome.

Wilson controlled the boards with 40 rebounds, with Shelburn leading the effort. Ball movement was equally impressive, as the Tigers recorded 12 assists on 20 made baskets.

Alec Ganote added 10 points, Jacquorrie Shelburn contributed nine, Rylan Hicks scored seven, and Aiden Barnard chipped in six. Tepoyv Williams (5), Esiah King (2), Andrew Wilson (1) and Talan Dobson (1) rounded out the scoring. — Balanced attack lifts Tigers past Cameron The Tigers followed that performance with another complete team effort, defeating Cameron 57-43. Once again, Ke’shon Shelburn recorded a double- double, finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Wilson controlled the game from the opening tip, jumping out to a 14-4 first-quarter lead – their strongest opening quarter of the postseason stretch.

After leading 4-2 early, Wilson surged on an 8-1 run and never relinquished the advantage. By halftime, the Tigers held a comfortable 30-13 lead. The margin swelled to 21 points at 40-19 before Cameron mounted a brief 10-point rally.

Wilson dominated the glass for the second straight game, pulling down 40 rebounds. Even more impressive was the team’s unselfish play – the Tigers tallied 19 assists on 22 made baskets, with Ke’shon Shelburn leading the way with five assists.

Jacquorrie Shelburn poured in 14 points, while Alec Ganote, Andrew Wilson and Aiden Barnard each added six. Talan Dobson scored four, and Esiah King, Tepoyv Williams and Rylan Hicks contributed two apiece.

Across those two victories, Wilson averaged 57.5 points per game, grabbed 80 total rebounds and distributed 31 assists – numbers that reflected both physical dominance and disciplined team basketball.

— Season ends in tough battle with Stuart

Wilson’s season came to a close Saturday with a 53-42 loss to Stuart, but even in defeat, the Tigers competed hard until the final buzzer.

Jacquorrie Shelburn led Wilson with 15 points, while Alec Ganote added 11, including three shots from beyond the arc. Ke’shon Shelburn contributed eight points and 11 rebounds, continuing his strong work on the boards.

The game remained competitive through the first half. Stuart led 13-9 after the opening quarter and held a narrow 21-16 edge at halftime. Wilson stayed within striking distance before a decisive 16-2 Stuart run late in the third quarter created separation.

Despite the setback, Wilson again battled on the glass with 30 rebounds and recorded 10 assists on 17 made baskets.

— A Season to Build On

Though the Tigers fell short of returning to State, their postseason wins over Strother and Cameron highlighted the team’s potential and resilience. Ke’shon Shelburn’s back-to-back double-doubles anchored the Tigers’ interior presence, while Jacquorrie Shelburn and Alec Ganote provided consistent scoring support.

Wilson demonstrated strong rebounding throughout the stretch, controlling the paint and sharing the basketball effectively – averaging 15.5 assists in their two wins and consistently finding the open man.

For a program that continues to develop talent and chemistry, this season provided valuable experience and momentum heading into the future. The Tigers’ ability to dominate stretches of play, rebound at a high level and distribute the ball efficiently signals a foundation that can carry forward into next year.

While the Wilson Tigers’ season has concluded, Okmulgee County basketball fans still have one more opportunity to rally behind a local team. The Preston Pirates remain alive and will face Kansas on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Knight Center in Henryetta, with hopes of securing a return trip to the State Tournament.
