Shelburn leads Tigers past Earlsboro at Districts
By PATRICK FORD Editor,

The postseason momentum continues to build for the Wilson Tigers, as a balanced offensive attack and dominant inside presence propelled them to an impressive 83-62 victory over Earlsboro on Tuesday night. With the win, Wilson now turns its attention to a pivotal matchup Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Glencoe, a contest that will determine both the winner and runner-up advancing to the Area Tournament.

Wilson’s latest victory was fueled by another standout performance from Ke’shon Shelburn, who recorded a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds while also distributing nine assists. Shelburn’s all-around effort set the tone early and provided steady leadership as the Tigers methodically controlled the game from start to finish.

The Tigers wasted little time asserting themselves, using a strong first quarter to establish momentum. Wilson shot an efficient 11-of-17 from the field in the opening frame, outscoring Earlsboro 22-14 and creating early separation. That energy carried into the second quarter as Wilson extended its lead to 36-24 at halftime, showcasing both offensive rhythm and defensive discipline.

When Earlsboro attempted to narrow the gap in the second half, Wilson responded decisively. Holding a 36-28 advantage, the Tigers delivered an 8-0 run that effectively halted any comeback hopes and restored control. Wilson’s interior dominance proved to be a defining factor throughout the contest, converting an impressive 36-of-50 attempts on two-point shots while consistently attacking the paint.

The Tigers’ team-oriented play was equally evident in the stat sheet. Wilson collected 34 rebounds and tallied 19 assists on 38 made baskets, demonstrating both physicality and unselfishness. Defensively, the Tigers altered numerous shots and recorded six blocks, with Jacquorrie Shelburn leading the effort with three rejections.

Several Tigers contributed to the scoring surge behind Shelburn’s performance. Andrew Wilson added 15 points, Jacquorrie Shelburn finished with 12, and Talan Dobson chipped in 10 to give Wilson multiple scoring threats. Additional contributions came from Aiden Barnard (7 points), Alec Ganote (6), Esiah King (6), Tepoyv Williams (2) and Rylan Hicks (2), reflecting the depth that has become a hallmark of Wilson’s postseason run.

Now, the Tigers prepare for what could be their most consequential game of the season. Saturday’s matchup at Glencoe carries significant stakes, as both teams competing will secure advancement to the Area Tournament – a critical step on the road toward the state tournament. For Wilson, the opportunity represents not only continued postseason survival but also a chance to solidify its identity as a team capable of competing deep into the playoff bracket.

With confidence growing and contributions coming from across the roster, Wilson enters Saturday’s contest riding momentum and embracing the challenge ahead. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Glencoe, where the Tigers will look to extend their postseason journey and keep their Road to State ambitions alive.
