Road to Gold

Oklahoma’s top high school wrestling teams will converge for one of the sport’s most intense and team-driven championship events when the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) hosts the 2026 Dual Team State Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 14.

The prestigious event, which crowns team champions through head-tohead dual competition, will be held at the UMAC facility on the campus of Tulsa Union High School. Unlike the individual state tournament, the Dual State Championship focuses on team strength, depth and strategy, often creating dramatic, momentum-shifting moments as wrestlers battle for crucial team points.

According to tournament organizers, the championship will feature a one-day format across all classifications, packing quarterfinals, semifinals and championship matches into a single day of high-intensity competition.

Competition will begin with quarterfinal matches contested on eight mats. Class 3A and 4A teams will take the mats first at 10 a.m., followed by Class 5A and 6A quarterfinals at noon. All classes will then return for semifinal rounds scheduled for 2 p.m. Following semifinal competition, the gym will be cleared to prepare for championship bouts, which will be contested on four mats beginning at 6:30 p.m., allowing fans to witness the state’s top programs battling for team titles under a championship spotlight atmosphere.

Gates will open at 9 a.m. for the morning session and reopen at 5:30 p.m. ahead of the championship finals, giving wrestling fans across Oklahoma opportunities to experience the excitement throughout the day.

The OSSAA has implemented a rotating starting weight system using National Federation rules to ensure fairness and competitive balance. Quarterfinal matches will begin at 157 pounds, semifinal competition will begin at 165 pounds and championship finals will start at 175 pounds.

The OSSAA will conduct virtual seeding meetings with qualifying teams, using several criteria including head-to-head results, performance against common opponents, OSSAA rankings and tournament placings following Jan. 1.

District champions from each region will be seeded and placed into brackets designed to create competitive matchups throughout the tournament. Teams must submit official seeding forms detailing dual meet results and tournament performances to OSSAA officials prior to the Feb. 4 deadline.

Brackets for the 2026 Dual State Wrestling Championships are scheduled to be released Feb. 6 on the OSSAA website, giving teams and fans their first look at potential championship matchups and tournament pathways.
