Wilson finishes runner-up at Patrons Bank Tourney
By PATRICK FORD Editor,

The Wilson Lady Tigers placed runner-up at the 2026 Patrons Bank Invitational last week in Preston. The team fell to Allen in the first round before defeating the host Lady Pirates 56-35. The Lady Tigers went on to fall to Wewoka 48-34 in the final.

— Lady Tigers fall to Allen in Patrons Bank opener The Wilson Lady Tigers faced a tough opening-round draw Tuesday in the Patrons Bank Tournament, running into an experienced Allen squad that used defensive pressure and balanced scoring to pull away for a 58-33 victory.

Allen jumped out early, building a 16-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Lady Mustangs capitalized on early turnovers and controlled the pace, limiting Wilson’s offensive opportunities. The Lady Tigers continued to battle in the second quarter but were held to four points as Allen extended its advantage to 32-6 at halftime.

Wilson showed notable improvement after the break, turning in its strongest offensive quarter in the third. The Lady Tigers scored 14 points in the period, matching Allen’s physicality and finding success attacking the basket. Despite the surge, Allen maintained control and carried a 42-20 lead into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter saw both teams trade baskets, with Allen closing out the game by outscoring Wilson 16-13 to secure the opening-round win.

Wilson Individual Scoring

• Reese Herring – 11 points

• Ivy Williams – 7 points

• Emily Bean – 4 points

• Jamie Proctor – 4 points

• Jaslene Proctor – 4 points

• Macy Dobson – 2 points

• Abby Neep – 1 point Wilson received minutes from across its lineup as the Lady Tigers worked through early foul trouble and rotated players for valuable tournament experience.

Allen’s scoring was spread throughout the lineup, with the Lady Mustangs receiving contributions in every quarter. Their depth proved especially effective in the first half, when multiple players scored and helped create separation on the scoreboard.

Despite the loss, Wilson’s second-half effort showed resilience and growth, particularly in the third quarter when the Lady Tigers outscored Allen in stretches and moved the ball more efficiently.

— Lady Tigers defeat county-rival Preston, 56-35 The Wilson Lady Tigers turned in a balanced effort on both ends of the floor last Thursday at the Patrons Bank Tournament, pulling away in the second half to defeat the Preston Lady Pirates, 56-35, in tournament action played at Preston High School.

Wilson set the tone early, using active defense and steady scoring to build a 10-9 lead after the first quarter before extending the margin to 23-15 by halftime. The Lady Tigers continued to apply pressure after the break, outscoring Preston 21-15 in the third quarter to take firm control of the contest, then closing out the win with a strong fourth-quarter performance.

Emily Bear led the way for Wilson with a gamehigh 10 points, providing a steady presence throughout all four quarters. Ty Williams followed closely with 9 points, while Reese Herring added 8 points as the Lady Tigers spread the scoring load across the lineup.

Macy Dobson chipped in 6 points, Abby Neep finished with 5, Jamie Proctor scored 4, and Jaslene Proctor added 3 to round out Wilson’s scoring attack. The Lady Tigers’ ability to generate points from multiple players made it difficult for Preston to key in defensively, especially as the game wore on.

Preston kept pace early behind solid first-half execution, trailing by just six at the break. Emma Savage paced the Lady Pirates with nine points, while Mackenzie Trotter contributed six. Ashleigh Hurt and Bella Byington each scored four points, with Delanie Long and Hayden Rider adding three apiece.

Despite trailing, Preston showed resilience, trimming the margin at times in the third quarter before Wilson responded with timely baskets and defensive stops to maintain control.

Wilson’s defensive pressure and transition offense proved decisive in the second half, as the Lady Tigers forced turnovers and converted scoring opportunities to steadily increase the lead.
