The Morris Eagles Archery program opened the new semester in impressive fashion, turning in strong team finishes and a long list of personal- best performances across multiple age groups during a packed week of competition.
Morris middle school and high school archers traveled to Cleveland on Friday to compete in both bullseye and 3D events, while the elementary school team capped the weekend with a standout showing Saturday at the Shady Point Archery Tournament.
— Middle School excels in Cleveland The Morris Middle School team delivered one of its strongest performances of the season at Cleveland, earning second place in bullseye competition with a season-best team score of 3,168.
Individually, Sophie Hildebrant led the way with a second-place finish, while McKinlee Boatner placed sixth and Kash Walters earned eighth place. The meet also saw several middle school archers reach new personal milestones, with Lakelyn Mabrey, Zane Clay, Kurt Hunnicutt, Daxton Anderson, Cole Casey and Halia Salyer all posting personal-best scores.
In 3D competition, the middle school squad continued its strong showing, scoring 1,545 points to claim second place overall. Kash Walters and McKinlee Boatner both earned spots on the leaderboard, with Boatner recording her personal-best 3D score of 265. Additional personal- best 3D performances came from Zane Clay, Kurt Hunnicutt, Jamie Ritter, Wyatt Leib, Halia Salyer, Braxton Lawson and Aidan Ritter.
— High School posts solid finishes The Morris High School team also competed Friday in Cleveland, finishing fifth in bullseye competition. Makenzie Stacy and Jake Steele led the Eagles, with Stacy turning in a standout performance to earn second place overall with a score of 285.
Several high school archers reached new individual benchmarks, including Ralieanna Gilmour, who shot a personal best of 262, and Tyler Oglesby, who posted his best score of the season at 260.
In the 3D portion of the meet, the Morris High School team finished fourth overall, with Makenzie Stacy placing fourth and Chrissy Wilson earning 10th place to land on the leaderboard. Chrissy Wilson, Raelianna Gilmour and Maddox Tolbert all recorded their best 3D scores of the year.
— Elementary team shines at Shady Point
On Saturday, Morris Elementary School archers traveled to the Shady Point Archery Tournament, where they continued the program’s momentum with a strong team showing. The Eagles earned third place overall with their best team score of the season, 2,558.
Abigail Deubel led the elementary squad, capturing first place with a personal-best score of 249. Raven Simons followed with a fourth-place finish, shooting her season best of 240, while Colton Macaluso earned a spot on the leaderboard with a personal-best score of 230.
Additional season-best performances were turned in by Everly Felts, Natali Hawkins, Brynlee Morris, Rose Cook, Mirrick Poorman, Zyler Carson and Ryleigh Davis, rounding out a memorable day for the elementary team.
— A Program Built on Growth and Support Beyond the results, Morris coaches praised the effort, attitude and sportsmanship displayed throughout the week. Team members were noted for encouraging one another, celebrating improvements and pushing through challenges to the final arrow.
With multiple teams posting season-best scores and numerous athletes setting new personal records, the Morris Eagles Archery program continues to show steady growth and depth across all levels. Coaches and supporters say they are excited to see that momentum carry forward as the season continues in the weeks ahead.
