Dragons open Webbers Falls Tourney with 64-42 win

The Dewar Dragons opened play at the Webbers Fall Tournament with a strong, balanced performance, pulling away in the second half to secure a 64-42 victory over host Webbers Falls in opening-round action.

After a competitive first half, Dewar used defensive pressure and efficient scoring to steadily build separation, outscoring the Warriors in each of the final two quarters to advance in tournament play. — Back-and-Forth Start Dewar and Webbers Falls traded baskets early, with the Dragons holding a narrow edge after the opening quarter. Dewar’s offense found rhythm through ball movement and transition opportunities, while the Warriors countered with timely scoring to stay within striking distance.

The Dragons carried a slim lead into halftime, leaning on steady production from their backcourt and strong defensive rebounding to limit second- chance opportunities. — Second-Half Surge The momentum shifted decisively after the break.

Dewar opened the third quarter with renewed energy, pushing the tempo and capitalizing on turnovers to extend the lead. The Dragons’ defense forced difficult looks, while the offense continued to convert at a high rate, creating breathing room entering the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Dewar closed the door, stretching the margin behind consistent scoring and disciplined execution to seal the 22-point win.

— Individual Performances Senior Tanner Wilson (No. 1) delivered a standout performance, pouring in 32 points to lead all scorers. Wilson was a constant threat throughout the game, scoring in multiple ways and setting the tone offensively for the Dragons.

Junior Joseph Moore (No. 0) followed with 20 points, providing a strong presence on both ends of the floor and helping Dewar control the pace during critical stretches.

Senior JoJo Waters (No. 11) added 12 points, contributing timely baskets that helped maintain momentum during Dewar’s second-half run.

Additional scoring came from:

• Johnny Wilson (No. 23), who finished with 10 points

• Stoney Yeager (No. 21), adding 13 points

• Trindyn Lewis (No. 3), who chipped in three points Dewar’s scoring depth and defensive effort proved too much for Webbers Falls as the game wore on.
