Lions Club recognizes service, community impact at meeting

Henryetta Lions Club met Dec. 18, 2025, for its regular meeting, focusing on community service efforts, holiday outreach and member recognition.

Members in attendance included Ashley Morris, Shirley McCowan, Nita Robertson, Bob Fowler, Colleen Fowler, Lou Ann Smith, Donnie Smith, Danyiel Green, Stacy Been, Brittany Alsa and Neesha Herring. Guests attending the meeting were Monica Medley and Ryan Dunn.

During the Sunshine Report, members shared holiday-themed updates, including Lions Lou Ann and Donnie Smith having both of their daughters home for the holidays, along with Lion Neesha Herring also welcoming her child home for the season.

The meeting minutes from the previous meeting were approved following a motion by Lion Bob Fowler and a second by Lion Nita Robertson, with the motion carrying unanimously. Lion Lou Ann Smith served as Tail Twister, sharing remarks centered on the Christmas season.

In announcements and old business, the club reported that 160 families were served through the Lions Club Christmas Basket program, with members expressing appreciation to everyone who helped make the effort possible. The club also noted that donations for Christmas baskets are still needed .

The program portion of the meeting included the Lion of the Day recognition, presented by Lion Neesha Herring, who introduced guest speaker Ryan Dunn, Director of Curriculum at Green Country Technology Center. Also addressing the club was Monica Medley, Second Vice-District Governor, who spoke about the importance of giving back to one’s community.

Several awards were presented during the meeting. The Chevron Award was presented to Lion Billie Been. Lion Ashley Morris presented the Willingness to Help Award to Lion Stacy Been in recognition of outstanding service and achievement within the club. Lion Shirley McCowan also reminded members of the upcoming tax season.

The meeting adjourned following a motion by Lion Shirley McCowan, seconded by Lion Lou Ann Smith, with the motion carrying. The minutes were respectfully submitted by Lion Nita Robertson.
