Fall Sports Are Back

As the first school bell of the 2025-26 academic year nears, student-athletes across Okmulgee County are preparing for another thrilling fall sports season. Local high schools have released fast pitch softball and cross country schedules, with games and meets set to begin as early as the first week of August.

Whether it’s under the bright lights of the softball diamond or along a sun-drenched cross-country trail, area fans can expect plenty of action and school spirit this fall. Here’s a full preview of the upcoming schedules for each local team. Schedules are subject to change so be sure to check the school’s website and social media for any updates:

Okmulgee Fastpitch

The Lady Bulldogs, led by Head Coach David Dunlap and Assistant Coach Gage Allen, open the season with a fierce two-game home-and-away battle against Beggs. Their schedule features a mix of conference play and tournament appearances, providing valuable experience for both junior high and varsity athletes.

The Beggs Lady Demons will bring high energy and depth to the field this fall. Their schedule includes local rivalries, tournaments, and a late-season home stand featuring Senior Night against Okemah on Sept. 25.

The Lady Knights, coached by Aundrea Lee, return with a full slate of games at all levels – junior high, JV and varsity. They’ll also compete in a handful of high-stakes tournaments including Stuart, Wilson, Checotah and Oktaha.

Returning to the field with momentum, the Dewar Lady Dragons will see action against regional rivals and in multiple tournaments. Their season launches at home against Okemah on Aug. 11.

The Lady Eagles bring a strong squad to the field this season with early matchups in Sapulpa and their own slate of home contests. They’ll host Booker T. Washington and Okmulgee to wrap up Sept. before a competitive playoff push.

The Wilson Lady Tigers are ready to step onto the diamond for what promises to be an exciting and competitive fast-pitch softball season. With a full slate of games, tournaments and rival matchups, the team is looking to build on their momentum and make a deep run into the postseason.

• Aug. 18 – vs. Prue/Earlsboro – 4 p.m. / 7 p.m.

• Aug. 21-22 – Okmulgee Festival – TBA

• Aug. 29 – vs. Liberty – 5:30 p.m.

Dewar’s cross country runners will line up against schools across the region, with eyes set on postseason success in October. The season starts Aug. 16 in Stroud and wraps with the State Meet on Oct. 25.
