Monday was the first meeting of the Henryetta Public Library Summer Reading Program.
Keith Green and Billie Dean taught the kids all about Cornhole. They taught them the rules, how to throw the bean bags and about the points. If you land a bag on the board it’s 1 point and if you land a bag in the hole it’s 3 points. The first person or team to 21 points wins the round.
Afterwards the kids had a fun time playing Cornhole. The kids had a blast.
“Come and join us next Monday for some more fun,” Kathy Crosby, children’s librarian stated.
— Color Our World
Open to all students entering 1st through 8th grade, the program encourages reading for fun while rewarding participants with prizes and engaging weekly activities. All sessions will be held on Mondays at 1 p.m., continuing on June 16, 23 and 30 and July 7 and 14.
This year’s program promises a variety of interactive experiences, including classic outdoor games like Cornhole, bubble machine fun, sidewalk chalk art and even personalized handprint t-shirts. The weekly sessions aim to spark imagination and keep young minds active throughout the summer months.
To make the experience even more exciting, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 175 – Henryetta has generously donated a $50 Walmart gift card. Every child who attends a weekly session will have their name entered into a drawing for the prize – more attendance means more chances to win.
Participants can also earn additional fun rewards simply by reading. The more books read, the more prizes they can claim.
So grab a book, bring your creativity and “Color Our World” this summer at Henryetta Public Library.
