Preston hosting 2A-1 Regional Tournament
By PATRICK FORD Editor,

The road to the state tournament begins this week for Class 2A-1 baseball teams, as Preston High School plays host to the Spring Baseball Regional Bracket on May 8–10.

The host Preston Pirates opened the tournament in Game 1 on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. against the Hinton Comets. With only four teams competing – Preston, Hinton, Wynnewood and Wilburton – each matchup carries significant weight.

If Preston defeated Hinton in the opener, the Pirates will advance to Game 3, scheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m., where they will face the winner of Game 2 between Wynnewood and Wilburton. A win in Game 3 would then send the Pirates to the championship game (Game 6) at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.

However, if Preston loses Thursday morning, they’ll drop into the elimination bracket and play again Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. in Game 4. A win there would keep their championship hopes alive, sending them to Game 5 on Friday at 12 noon for another elimination matchup.

The winner of Friday’s championship game (Game 6) could advance unless a Game 7 is needed. That deciding game, if necessary, will be played Saturday at 2 p.m.

Only 60 feet from glory, the Pirates aim to defend their home turf and punch their ticket to the state tournament. Fans are encouraged to attend and support their team through what promises to be a thrilling slate of baseball action.
