The road to the gold is set, and the Dewar Lady Dragons are ready to make their mark in the 2025 Class 3A Slow-Pitch State Championship tournament.
Set to take place Monday, May 12 at FireLake Ballpark in Shawnee (18160 Rangeline Road), the single-day OSSAA state tournament features eight of Oklahoma’s elite Class 3A teams vying for the championship crown. Dewar will open play against Fairland at 1 p.m. on Field 1 in a crucial quarterfinal matchup.
The Lady Dragons, known for their powerful bats and gritty defense, have been on a tear this season, showcasing the kind of cohesion and energy it takes to make a championship run. Under the leadership of their coaching staff, Dewar enters the bracket confident, battle-tested and eager to compete on the state’s biggest stage.
If Dewar defeats Fairland, they will advance to the semifinal round later that day at 5:30 p.m., also on Field 1. A win there would send them to the 7 p.m. state championship game.
The rest of the bracket features opening-round showdowns between:
• Caddo vs. Wister (11:30 a.m.)
• Hydro-Eakly vs. Ripley (10 a.m.)
• Arapaho-Butler vs. Tushka (2:30 p.m.)
All games will take place Monday on Field 1, with the champion crowned by the end of the evening.
Tournament admission is $13 for cash tickets at the gate or available online via OSSAA.com. The team listed on the top line of the bracket will occupy the third base dugout.
For Coach Stephen Castlebury, the Dewar Lady Dragons and their fans, Monday presents a chance to bring home a state title and cap off an already impressive season with championship glory.
Will the Dragons breathe fire all the way to the trophy? The journey begins May 12 in Shawnee.
