Track and field athletes from across the state gathered at Okmulgee High School on Friday, March 28, for a competitive day of running, jumping, and throwing. The 2025 Okmulgee Track Meet saw powerhouse performances from Putnam City, which dominated both the boys’ and girls’ divisions, while Okmulgee County schools Okmulgee and Preston delivered standout showings, earning numerous top finishes.

— Team Champions Crowned

Putnam City walked away with both the boys’ and girls’ team titles. Their boys’ squad posted a commanding 205 points, outpacing Glenpool (107) and Thomas Edison (103). On the girls’ side, Putnam City scored 162 points, ahead of Thomas Edison (138) and Glenpool (108).

Okmulgee’s boys placed sixth overall with 44 points, and the Lady Bulldogs finished fourth with a solid 68-point showing. Preston’s girls took seventh with 29 points.

— Okmulgee Bulldogs – Strong Relays & Field Events The Okmulgee girls made a statement in the 4×200 relay, finishing second with a time of 1:55.52, and placed fourth in the 4×100 relay at 55.78.

In individual competition, Madi Stacy earned third in the 300m hurdles (1:02.04), while Skyy Drone (14.82), Bella West (16.06), and Stacy (16.35) all competed in the 100m dash. Stacy also ran the 200m, finishing in 35.32.

Demunii Williams dominated the field, taking 2nd in shot put (28-05.00) and 4th in discus (6011.00), while Azryel Mills added points with a 5thplace discus throw (55-11.00) and 4th in shot put (24-03.00).

In jumps, Destiny Monteque took 2nd in the long jump (14-09.00), and Jamaar Penn earned a tie for 2nd in boys’ high jump (5-10.00).

The Okmulgee boys’ 4×200 relay finished a close second (1:34.79), just 0.14 seconds behind Douglass. Their 4×400 relay also impressed, placing third with a time of 3:47.74. In the 4×800, the Bulldogs clocked 10:34.45 to finish 7th.

On the track, Larry Yahola and Keonte Youngblood went 6th (24.18) and 5th (24.03) respectively in the 200m dash, while Javin Hutchinson (12.52), Chase Spain (12.90), and Kingston Butler (13.06) competed in the 100m.

In distance races, Bryan Long led the Bulldogs in the 800m (2:45.16) and 1600m (6:09.83), with Keaton Freeman and Javion Lang also logging times in both events.

Michael Lewis tied for 4th in boys’ shot put (3608.00) and placed 15th in discus (72-00.00), while Preston Powell placed 7th in shot (36-02.00) and 9th in discus (86-10.00).

—- Preston Lady Pirates – Sprint & Hurdle Talent on Display Preston’s girls had several standout performances. In the 100m hurdles, Brihanna Kelley took 2nd place (23.25), and Katie Jones followed closely for 3rd (23.56). Both athletes also competed in the 100m dash, with Aliyana Fixico leading the team (15.19), followed by Paris Lewis (15.37), and Jones again (16.88).

The Lady Pirates placed 5th in the 4×100 relay (57.45) and 4th in the 4×200 relay (2:07.64). In the 400m dash, Fixico ran 1:13.09 (8th), followed by Lewis (1:16.55) and Kelley (1:21.20).

In the 800m, Brinley Kennedy and Taylor Lumpkin placed 8th and 9th respectively, while Kelley rounded out the team’s effort in 10th.

Kennedy also placed 10th in the 200m dash (30.74), followed by Danica Mineyard (31.11) and Emiko Nystrom (35.03).

• Putnam City’s dominance extended across all event groups, including sprints, distance, hurdles, and field events.

• Thomas Edison’s girls excelled in distance events, sweeping the top three spots in the 1600m and 800m.

• Glenpool’s depth in the field was clear, winning the boys’ and girls’ pole vault, and sweeping the girls’ high jump podium.

• Crossover Prep’s Cameron Salim was a double winner in the 100m (11.50) and 200m (23.13).
