For the second consecutive year, the Dewar Dragons have solidified their dominance in the world of high school powerlifting, securing the title of 2025 Oklahoma 8-Man Football Coaches Association State Champions in Team Powerlifting. With a stellar performance at the state championship, the Dragons racked up an impressive 151 total points, showcasing the strength, determination, and discipline of their athletes.

— A Championship Roster Packed with Strength Under the guidance of Head Coach Marshall Been and assistant coaches Jared Powel, Josh Been, and Jake Stapp, the Dragons demonstrated their prowess across multiple weight classes. The team’s standout performances included several top finishes and podium placements across various weight categories: Individual Results by Weight Class

• JoJo Waters – 132 lbs

• Ben Atoigue – 145 lbs

• Terry Bush – 145 lbs

• Dylan Duke – 145 lbs

• Colt Webb – 157 lbs

• Clark Hotema – 181 lbs

• Hayden Strange – 181 lbs

• Naea Cobrin – 198 lbs (2nd Place)

• Jaylin Lindsey – 198 lbs (4th Place)

• Nick Bowers – 198 lbs

• Titus Thompson – 220 lbs

• Isaac Powell – 220 lbs (1st Place)

• Damian Smith – 220 lbs (2nd Place)

• MJ Furch – 220 lbs (4th Place)

• Kade Birdtail – 275 lbs (34d Place)

• Zach Moore – 275 lbs

• Scott Hood – HWT The Dragons’ depth across these weight classes played a crucial role in their title defense, with four lifters earning top-three finishes and multiple athletes placing in the top five.

— Looking Ahead: OPCA Regionals

& State Meet

With another state championship under their belts, the Dewar Dragons now set their sights on upcoming competitions. Next on their agenda is the OPCA Regionals in Hartshorne on March 7, followed by the 2025 State Meet in El Reno on Saturday, March 15. The team will look to carry their momentum forward and continue their reign as one of the most formidable powerlifting squads in Oklahoma.

The back-to-back championship victories reinforce the Dragons’ status as a powerhouse in Oklahoma powerlifting. The combination of dedicated coaching, relentless training and outstanding individual performances has propelled Dewar to the top once again.

As the Dragons prepare for their upcoming meets, one thing is clear: Dewar is a force to be reckoned with in the world of powerlifting, and they show no signs of slowing down.
