Century-old tradition continues in Henryetta
After 100 years, Henryetta residents are still following the tradition of sledding down 5th Street hill when the road is covered in ice. For safety, 5th Street is blocked off at Cummings in order for the long-running event to occur. Though the temperatures were bitter cold last week, Henryetta residents pictured above, Jaden Simpson, Jackson Powders, Jason Powders, Joe Nail, Kiley Nail and Tonya Powders had a great time sledding down the solid sheet of ice covering the street. City crews as well as ODOT made quick work of clearing the main highways during the recent winter storm. PHOTO BY MARCUS WHITWORTH, SR.
