Mayor Hawes has in his desk a six-shooter, an old fashion gun, not only of frontier model, but a part of the old frontier itself. It is the old cap-andball gun, an early Remington regular hog leg in length, ram-rod, doubling up under the barrel, walnut stock, all in a good state of preservation and leaded “to kill” with the bright shining caps of the nipples and the wicked looking bullets jamming the cylinder muzzles.
