Competing against swimmers from Fort Gibson, Muskogee and Tulsa, the Okmulgee County Surge swimmers outpaced their opponents to perfect their times. The Surge went up against more experienced swimmers at the meet, resulting in a dip in medals acquired. Piper Nix and Jennifer Horn were a few of the swimmers that garnered medals at the meet. Nix saw her times take a hit in the butterfly and breaststroke this week, but was able to earn a 2nd place medal in the girls 13-14 breaststroke race. She clocked in a 46.54 seconds, which is a one-second increase from her time at the Fort Gibson meet. Nix outpaced Muskogee swimmer Elisabeth Ortiz by three-seconds. In the girls 13-14 50 meter butterfly event, Nix placed 6th overall with a time of 45.69. Surge teammate Emma Merrill barely crossed the finish line before her for 5th place. She clocked in at 45.68 in the butterfly.
