The Dewar Dragons benefited from scoring streaks in the first quarter, but a second-half slump resulted in a close 2-point loss to the Strother Yellowjackets on Thursday. Dewar junior Joey Fowler and sophomore Thomas Brownfield led a 17-point scoring streak that toppled the Yellowjackets efforts in the first quarter. However, a dip in energy changed the tone of the game in the second half. Back-to-back single digit quarters marked the downfall of the Dragons, allowing the Yellowjackets to claim a 43-41 win over Dewar. The 2- point loss puts the Dragons’ record at 11-7 and marks the first consecutive losses the Dragons have earned since a three-game winning streak at the start of the season. The Class A Strother Yellowjackets had a 9-8 record when they met the Dragons on the court on Thursday, Jan. 30.
